Assault on a Public Officer and offensive conduct conducive to breaches of the peace are the charges brought against Patricia Aseidua, also known as Nana Agradaa, by her attorney.
On Monday, January 16, 2023, when police were instructed to arrest his client at the Circuit Court, Theophilus Donkor, the attorney, is alleged to have abused the police officers.
The police claimed that day that they had been assaulted by the suspect while carrying out their legal obligation to detain Nana Agradaa in connection with a different case.
After receiving the complaint, the Police started looking into the situation, which resulted in the lawyer's arrest.
According to the Police Officers, the Accused prevented them from performing their duties by obstructing them.
After an investigation, it was discovered that Sgt. Nana Bomfoa Bamfo asked the lawyer to exercise restraint so they could carry out their legal obligation.
Mr. Donkor took offense to this and is said to have insulted the Police Officers in front of the public.
The attorney denied knowing about the offense during the investigation.
In the meantime, Mr. Donkor has submitted an application contesting the Court's authority to hear the case.
According to Mr. Donkor's affidavit in support of the application, the attempt to have him charged before the Court is an attempt to cast doubt on him.
