Dr. Cassiel Ato Baah Forson, the MP for Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam, has questioned Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Ghana's vice president, to find out how the government plans to pay for the initiative to provide free tablets to all SHS students.
The lawmaker from Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam questioned whether the government would borrow money to support the initiative.
In a tweet that was shared by former president John Dramani Mahama, Dr. Ato Baah Forson firmly asserted, "Dr. Basic schools in the North East Region lack tables and chairs, yet Bawumia has promised to give each student a tablet. How will you pay for this? Will you take out more debt? Where are your priorities, Mr. Dot Vice President?
This year, all SHS students will receive free laptops, as Dr. Bawumia promised.
They have plenty of textbooks for their studies on these tables, he claimed.
The Vice President said that this development "changes the game.".
All Senior High School students in Ghana will receive tablets this year that are pre-loaded with textbooks for their studies, according to the plan.
That development completely alters the playing field. At this year's New Year School at the University of Ghana, Legon on Tuesday, January 17, 2023, he stated, "We will have previous questions preloaded on these tablets that will be distributed.
