The staff at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) has been tasked by Professor Otchere Addai-Mensah, the hospital's CEO, to work harder to enhance the quality of healthcare provided there.
He said this at the Hospital's 2022 Thanksgiving service, reception, and awards ceremony in Kumasi. "Management would have a big problem with anyone whose actions and inactions lead to a decline in the quality of services we render to the public," he said.
"As a hospital, it is insufficient to be recognized for having the best facilities and medical specialists in this region of the world. The provision of prompt specialist care to patients in a respectful manner is also crucial; we should be known as the most patient-centered facility, Prof. Addai-Mensah said.
He stated that management was making every effort to provide staff with the resources, materials, and financial incentives necessary to provide clients with high-quality services while placing a priority on supervision in order to motivate the workforce.
The CEO stated that as part of the measures taken to accomplish that, Management was giving the hospital's various directorates and units more operational and financial autonomy and allocating a portion of the revenues generated to them to address operational issues.
All told, 40 employees received recognition for standing out in their respective fields in 2022.
Electronic devices and citations were given as prizes to all award winners.
The three most deserving award recipients (overall best, first, and second runners up) received GH15,000.00, GH10,000.00, and GH5,000.00, respectively.
In addition, the Directorate of Surgery was recognized as the Most Innovative Directorate of the Year and given GH30,000.00 to improve even further.
