In order to make sure that school bus road worthiness is made a requirement for the renewal of school licenses, the National Road Safety Authority (NRSA) is working with the National Schools Inspectorate Authority (NASIA).
As a result of public concerns regarding the state of the vehicles used to transport students to and from school, this has become necessary.
According to Mr. Kwabena Asare Mintah, the Manager in charge of Regulations, Inspections, and Compliance at NRSA, there have been more accidents on the road recently involving school buses carrying children.
He claimed that NASIA representatives and members of the Authority were currently out in the field inspecting school busses and other vehicles for wear and tear.
Speaking to reporters at Fumesua in the Ejisu Municipality of the Ashanti Region during one of the field exercises, Mr. Mintah said it would allow the Authority to be aware of the gaps and make recommendations.
