Daniel Owusu-Koranteng, the executive director of WACAM, an advocacy NGO for "responsible mining," has urged the government to release the Appiatse Committee's report.

Along with strict enforcement of the nation's mining regulations, he has also called for a Comprehensive Resettlement, Rehabilitation, and Compensation package for the families of the 14 people who died in the explosion.

Mr. Owusu-Koranteng expressed his displeasure in an interview with GBC's Seth Eyiah in Accra regarding the six million dollar fine imposed on the Maxam Company for violating the rules governing the transportation of mining explosives.
