The West African Examinations Council, WAEC, is advising the public to ignore rumors that the results for the 2022 Basic Education Certificate Examination for School and Private Candidates have been made public that are circulating on social media.
The target date for the release of results for both school and private candidates is Wednesday, January 25, 2023, according to a statement by the Council's Head of Legal, Reverend Victor Brew, disputing media reports on the matter.
The Council is far along with post-examination activities, according to the statement, having conducted the examination at 2,023 centers and finished coordination and marketing exercises.
Further in the statement, it was stated that investigations into irregularities in the exams that were found both during and after they were administered were still ongoing.
Affected school administrations and candidates were urged to promptly respond to its invitation in order to hasten the resolution of examination malpractices. As a result, if candidates decline to accept such invitations, the Council will proceed to reach a decision in the cases at hand.
The statement exhorts parents and applicants to maintain their composure as WAEC works toward the results' release so that qualified applicants can enroll in senior high schools and technical institutes at the start of the academic year.
