GhanaWeb has been informed by Member of Parliament Ernest Norgbey that some military personnel in Ashaiman appear to have taken the law into their own hands, moving from house to house and brutalizing locals.
This follows the virality of some residents' videos of the incident on social media.
Residents who were outside of their rooms in the early hours of the morning were shown in some of these videos being beaten up by staff.
It is believed that the incident occurred at Official town in Ashaiman at dawn on March 7, 2023, during a torrential downpour.
According to new information, the personnel were seeking vengeance for the death of one of their colleagues on March 4, 2023, in the early hours of the morning.
Residents have been ordered to remain in their rooms until the situation calms down, according to reports.
The majority of the area's streets are very empty.
